Using Unfold Reels to create social media videos

With Unfold Reels, you can use video templates to combine several video clips or images into one video for social media. Create videos from clips you already have, or capture and edit media to add them to your videos. Save your videos, or upload them directly to social media.

Unfold Video is currently available on iOS only.

Creating videos with templates

You can use templates to quickly create stylized videos with your video clips and images.

To download a video template:

  1. On the Unfold home screen, tap +.
  2. Tap Reel, and then Template.
  3. Scroll to view the the available templates. Tap a template thumbnail to view the preview in full-screen. Continue swiping to view other templates in full-screen.
  4. Pause on a template to preview the style of video the template creates, and toggle the Mute setting to preview the music used with the template.
  5. Tap Use this template in the full-screen preview of the template you want to use.

To create a video using a video template:

  1. Tap the template thumbnail to open the full-screen preview, then tap Use this template.
  2. A notification stating the number of photos of video clips needed for the video template. Note the number, then tap X.
  3. Tap the images or clips you want to turn into one video in the order you want them to appear, or tap Unsplash to select images from the Unsplash library.
  4. In the top-right corner, tap the arrow to upload your images or clips into the template.
  5. Preview your video. If you’re happy with your preview, tap the export icon in the top-right corner to save the video to your device. You can also upload your video directly to social media.

Editing videos

After you create a video using a template, you can delete or replace the video clips and photos you used in the video.

To edit a video clip with the Unfold video template editor:

  1. Swipe through the thumbnails of the shots in the video, then tap the thumbnail of the shot you want to edit.
  2. Tap to access the edit options for that shot.
  3. Tap Replace or Delete.
  4. If you’re replacing the image or clip, tap the image or video clip to be used as a replacement, or tap Unsplash to select images from the Unsplash library.
  5. Wait for the video to be built and preview. Repeat the process as needed, then save.

Each template accepts a maximum number of video clips or photos. This number is included in the notification that displays when you choose a template. If you created the video using fewer than the maximum number of clips and photos, you can edit the video to add more clips, up to the maximum.

To add a clip with the Unfold video template editor:

  1. Swipe left through all of the thumbnails.
  2. Tap +.
  3. Tap the image or video clip to be added, or tap Unsplash to select images from the Unsplash library.
  4. Wait for the video to be built and preview. Repeat the process as needed, then save.

Reorder images and video clips in your Reel

To change the order of the images and video clips in your video reel:

  1. Create a new video reel or open an existing project.
  2. Press and hold the thumbnail of the video clip or image you'd like to move.
  3. Drag the selected clip left or right to move it to the new location in the video reel.
  4. Press the play button in the bottom-left of the preview window to preview your video reel.

Edit images and videos on your device

You can use Unfold’s video editor to edit any image or video on your device.

Keep in mind:

  • If you edit a photo or video on your device, then upload it to social media, depending on the app, you may have an opportunity to edit your content in the social media app before you hit publish.
  • After editing and saving your images and videos, you can add them to Unfold story templates, where you can edit them again. To learn more, visit Creating stories.

To edit an image or video:

  1. On the Unfold home screen, tap +.
  2. Tap Edit and select the image or video from your device.
  3. Tap Filters, Effects, or Adjust to edit.
  4. After making changes, tap the save icon to save the edited image or video to your device. You can also upload it directly to social media.
