Editing your Bio Site

Change the style and content of your Bio Site.

After publishing your Bio Site, you can edit it using either the Unfold app, or the web editor. Review this guide to learn more about editing your Bio Site. To learn more about color contrast and text, visit Accessibility resources at Squarespace.

Note: If a feature isn't working as expected, or isn't available on the mobile app, try updating the app, or visiting the web editor to continue working.

Make style changes

Web

You can change your Bio Site’s layout, color theme, or font in the Style panel. To access the Style panel, in the left navigation menu, click . 

After styling your Bio Site, in the top-right corner, click Update to publish your changes.

App

Choose a layout

Web

You can change the design of your Bio Site by selecting a new layout in the following categories:

  • Classic
  • Elegant
  • Creative
  • Bold

App

To change the layout of your Bio Site:

  1. In the Unfold app, tap Bio Sites.
  2. Tap the Bio Site you want to edit.
  3. Tap Style and then Layout.
  4. Choose a new layout, then tap anywhere on the preview screen to exit the layout selection.
  5. In the top-right corner, tap Update to publish your changes.

Choose a theme

Web

You can edit your color theme using the following options:

  • Light - Choose a light-colored solid or gradient color theme. 
  • Dark - Choose a dark-colored solid or gradient color theme.
  • Animated - Choose an animated gradient color theme. 
  • Custom - Click each element to assign a preset color or a custom color, or you can generate colors from an image. When choosing a custom color, use the slider to select a color, then choose a shade in the square above. If you know the Hex value for the color you want, you can also click in the value field to edit it. With Site Background, you can also choose a texture, or animation.

To change the color theme of your Bio Site:

  1. In the Unfold app, tap Bio Sites.
  2. Tap the Bio Site you want to edit.
  3. Tap Style and then Theme.
  4. Choose from the following options:
    • Light - Choose a light-colored solid or gradient color theme. 
    • Dark - Choose a dark-colored solid or gradient color theme.
    • Animated - Choose an animated gradient color theme. 
    • Custom - Tap each element to assign a preset color or a custom color. To choose a custom color, tap the multi-color circle and use the slider to select a color, then choose a shade in the square above. If you know the Hex value for the color you want, you can also click in the value field to edit it. With the Site Background option, you can also choose a Texture, or Animation. 
  5. Tap anywhere on the preview screen to exit the theme selection.
  6. In the top-right corner, tap Update to publish your changes.

Change the font

When you change the font, it affects the text in your Bio Description, links, and text boxes. 

App

When you change the font, it affects the text in your Bio Description, links, and text boxes. To change the font:

  1. In the Unfold app, tap Bio Sites.
  2. Tap the Bio Site you want to edit.
  3. Tap Style, then tap Fonts.
  4. Select a font, then tap anywhere on the preview screen to complete your selection and preview the new font.
  5. In the top-right corner, tap Update to publish your changes.

Add your photos and profile information

Web

To add images and personal information to your Bio Site:

  1. In the left navigation menu, click to open the Profile panel.
  2. To upload a profile picture and cover photo (if applicable) click then select an image from your device.
  3. Under About, enter or edit your name and bio description.
  4. Optional: under Design, choose a header design. Header designs incorporate the profile and cover photos you selected.
  5. In the top-right corner, click Update to publish your changes.

To add images and personal information to your Bio Site:

  1. In the Unfold app, tap Bio Sites.
  2. Tap the Bio Site you want to edit.
  3. Tap Profile.
  4. To upload a profile picture from your device, or Instagram, tap Profile photo, then select an image from your device,  the Unsplash library, or take a new photo with your device’s camera.
  5. To upload a cover photo from your device, or Instagram, tap Cover photo, then select an image from your device, the Unsplash library, or take a new photo with your device’s camera. 
  6. Optional: tap the Design tab to change the header design. Header designs incorporate the profile and cover photos you selected.
  7. Enter or edit your Name, then tap ✓.
  8. Enter or edit your Bio description, then tap ✓.
  9. In the top-right corner, tap Update to publish your changes.

Image best practices

To ensure your images look their best, follow these recommendations before uploading them to your website:

Type of image Image and file size
Cover image Max dimensions: 1200 x 674 because we crop the image to fit an aspect ratio of 16:9
Profile image Max dimensions: 600 x 600
.gif Max file size: 10MB
Tip: To use an image without a background color, ensure your image is a .png file with a transparent background.

Add your social accounts

By default, your Bio Site contains a Social section beneath your profile information. Use this section to display a row of icons linking to your social accounts. You can move or delete this section at any time. You can also embed social posts into your Bio Site.

If you use Autofill to populate content in your Bio Site, the Social section automatically populates with the links from the Social links panel of your Squarespace site.

To add a row of social icons to your Bio Site using the web editor:

  1. In the left navigation menu, click to open the Sections panel.
  2. If you haven’t added social icons yet, under Recommended, click Social. If you already have social icons, under My Sections, Click Social. 
  3. Click the icon for the social account you want to add.
  4. Enter the necessary information beside the icon.
  5. Repeat these steps for each social account you want to add, up to eight.
  6. To rearrange your social accounts, click and hold next to the social account you want to move to slide it up or down the list.
  7. To delete a social account, click that appears close to the corresponding social icon.
  8. In the top-right corner, click Update to publish your changes.

If the icon for the social account you want to add doesn't appear, or to add multiple accounts for a single social platform, add links to those accounts manually.

To add a row of social icons to your Bio Site:

  1. In the Unfold app, tap Bio Sites.
  2. Tap the Bio Site you wish to edit.
  3. Tap Sections and then Social.
  4. Tap the icon for the social account you want to add.
  5. Enter your username beside the icon, then tap ✓.
  6. Repeat these steps for each social account you want to add. You can add up to eight.
  7. To rearrange your social accounts, tap the pencil icon, then tap and hold = next to the social account you want to move to slide it up or down the list.
  8. To delete a social account, tap the pencil icon, then tap the trash icon next to the social account you want to delete.
  9. In the top-right corner, tap Update to publish your changes.

If the icon for the social account you want to add doesn't appear, or to add multiple accounts for a single social platform, you can add links to those accounts manually.

Add your links

Links you add in the Links section display as a vertical list in the body of your Bio Site. This is a great place to add links to your websites or direct links to social media profiles that don’t have a built-in icon in the Social section. This section appears beneath the Social section by default, but you can move or delete it at any time.

To add links to your Bio Site using the web editor:

  1. In the left navigation menu, click to open the Sections panel.
  2. Click Links.
  3. In the Link name field, enter the name you want to appear for the link.
  4. In the URL field, enter the URL for the website you want to link to. The URL won’t be visible on your Bio Site.
  5. Click to either upload a thumbnail image from your device, or choose a branded icon image from the Icon library. 
  6. Repeat these steps for every link you want to add.
  7. To rearrange your links, click and hold next to the link you want to move to slide it up or down the list.
  8. To delete a link, hover over it and click to the left of the link. 
  9. In the top-right corner, click Update to publish your changes.

To add links to your Bio Site:

  1. In the Unfold app, tap Bio Sites.
  2. Tap the Bio Site you wish to edit.
  3. Tap Links.
  4. In the Link name field, enter the name you want to appear for the link, then tap ✓.
  5. In the URL field, enter the URL for the website you want to link to. The URL won’t be visible on your Bio Site.
  6. Tap the image icon. 
  7. Tap Camera roll to upload a thumbnail image from your device, select an image from the Unsplash library, or take a new photo with your device’s camera. If you're adding a link to a social account, tap Icon library instead to add a branded icon image. 
  8. Tap ✓.
  9. Repeat these steps for every link you want to add.
  10. In the top-right corner, tap Update to publish your changes.

To rearrange your links:

  1. In the Unfold app, tap Bio Sites.
  2. Tap the Bio Site you wish to edit.
  3. Tap the pencil icon, then tap and hold = next to the link you want to move to slide it up or down the list. 
  4. In the top-right corner, tap Update to publish your changes.

 To delete a link:

  1. In the Unfold app, tap Bio Sites.
  2. Tap the Bio Site you wish to edit.
  3. Tap the pencil icon.
  4. Tap the trash icon next to the link you want to delete.
  5. In the top-right corner, tap Update to publish your changes.

Troubleshooting templates

The following is a potential issue with one of our Bio Sites templates and the steps you can take to avoid it.

Scrolling header issue in the Cami Sandro template

In the Cami Sandro template, the scrolling header will not scroll smoothly if you add extra spaces to the repeated header text. For example, if your scrolling header text repeats, such as - "Welcome to my site - Welcome to my site - Welcome to my site" ensure that there are no extra spaces, especially if you are copying and pasting text.
